Inside out, upside down

with 3 comments

Two values I’ve always taken for granted don’t make as much sense to me now as they have in the past.

1. Just be yourself

2. It’s what’s on the inside that counts

I just don’t know about these. Do you subscribe to these ideas? Why or why not?

‎”Dont judge a book by its cover” doesn’t fly with people. One may be an incredible person on the inside but people judge you in seconds. Ones honesty, appearance, intelligence, likeability, attitude and so on are what people judge you on. And they judge you fast.

That’s a great observation. Goes to show that appearance is very important.

I agree with Gary–people do judge, whether they realize it (or like it) or not. But I subscribe to your two ideas as well. There are a lot of people I’ve met whom I didn’t like the first or second or third time around. But once I got to know them, I realized there was a lot more to them than I wanted to admit. It didn’t always mean I became good friends with them, but I understood them better and let down my judgmental defenses. It takes time to get to know people well enough that you can really say that it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
